Find A Therapist
The Irish Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (ICPA) is committed to promoting safe, ethical, and high-quality counselling and psychotherapy practice, while supporting members of the public to access appropriately trained professionals across Ireland. The Find a Therapist section has been created to help individuals, couples, and families locate a therapist who works in accordance with recognised professional standards and ethical guidelines.

All therapists listed in the ICPA directory are registered members of the Association. Members are required to meet defined criteria relating to training, ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and clinical supervision. They are also bound by the ICPA Code of Ethics, which outlines clear expectations regarding professional conduct, client confidentiality, safeguarding, appropriate boundaries, and client wellbeing. This provides reassurance that therapists listed are accountable to a professional body and committed to ethical and reflective practice.

The directory enables users to search for therapists based on a range of criteria, including location, therapeutic approach, areas of practice, and client groups served. Profiles may include information on qualifications, experience, modalities used, and practical details such as availability and whether sessions are offered in person or online. Some profiles may indicate student membership status. Student members of the ICPA are in training and are not permitted to charge a fee for counselling or psychotherapy services. This distinction supports transparency and allows the public to make informed choices when selecting a therapist.

Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step. The ICPA encourages individuals to take time to explore therapist profiles and to contact therapists directly to discuss their needs, expectations, and any questions before making an appointment. Many practitioners offer an initial conversation to help assess suitability.

By using the ICPA Find a Therapist directory, you are accessing a resource that prioritises professional accountability, ethical practice, and transparency, supporting confidence and clarity when seeking therapeutic support.
