This section is intended for Irish Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (ICPA) members to formally record and reflect on key professional practice requirements and supports that underpin safe, ethical, and effective practice. Members should use this space to clearly outline their annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements, including the minimum number of CPD hours expected in line with their membership category. A concise summary of CPD activities completed throughout the year should be included, such as workshops, accredited training courses, conferences, seminars, webinars, research activities, or reflective learning that contributes to professional competence and development.

In addition to CPD, members are required to document their supervision arrangements. This should include the frequency of supervision sessions, the total number of supervision hours completed over the year, and the type of supervision undertaken (individual, group, or blended). Where relevant, members may also note the qualifications or accreditation status of their supervisor and how supervision supports reflective practice, ethical decision-making, and client safety. Maintaining regular supervision is a core professional requirement and plays a vital role in sustaining high standards of therapeutic work.

Members should also use this section to confirm their ongoing commitment to ethical practice. This includes adherence to the ICPA Code of Ethics, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, safeguarding client confidentiality, and ensuring accurate, secure, and lawful record-keeping in compliance with data protection legislation. Any relevant policies or procedures that support ethical practice, such as complaints handling or safeguarding protocols, may also be referenced here.

Finally, this area can be used to signpost important ICPA member resources and supports, including guidance documents, practice templates, policy updates, and access to the ICPA members’ area for announcements, renewal requirements, and professional supports. Keeping this information accurate and up to date demonstrates ongoing competence, professional accountability, and a clear commitment to best practice in service delivery.
